I recently resumed a saved game and, ultimately, died (YASD). While it was gratifying to see that I made the top score, it was in fact the ONLY score--my prior ascensions were no longer on display! Fortunately TIme Machine was able to mitigate this disaster ( :) ), but it would be nice if the port, when installed, renamed the "record" and "logfile" files in share/nethackdir to "record.orig" and "logfile.orig", respectively, then copied to the non-suffixed names only if they did not already exist (similar to what is done for config files for other ports).
