[MacPorts] #38818: octave-devel @3.6.4 bash looks for octave in /Applications
#38818: octave-devel @3.6.4 bash looks for octave in /Applications ----------------------+--------------------------------- Reporter: hsafer@… | Owner: macports-tickets@… Type: defect | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: 2.1.3 Keywords: | Port: octave-devel @3.6.4 ----------------------+--------------------------------- Hi, Installing Octave @3.2.4 failed as described in ticket #38694. I followed the advice given there: I uninstalled octave and then installed octave- devel @3.6.4. The installation worked fine. When I type `/opt/local/bin/octave` it works as expected; when I type just `octave`, however, I get the error `-bash: /Applications/Octave.app/Contents/Resources/bin/octave: No such file or directory` even though `which octave` says that `/opt/local/bin/octave` is what bash will look for first. The /Applications directory does not have a copy of octave. I haven't found this or a similar error addressed in the trac system. Any suggestions how to get bash to look for the right version? I am running OSX 10.8.3 Mountain Lion with Xcode 4.6.1. Thanks, Hershel -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/38818> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X

I closed and re-opened the Terminal application, and got the same error. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/38818#comment:2> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X

Apologies, my mistake. My .bashrc file, which I brought over from a different computer to us on my new computer, has an alias to what was once a version of Octave that was installed in /Applications. Sorry to bother you with this. Hershel -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/38818#comment:3> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X
