[MacPorts] #49024: MacPorts download not available for ElCapitan
#49024: MacPorts download not available for ElCapitan --------------------------+-------------------------------- Reporter: coolfactor@… | Owner: macports-tickets@… Type: defect | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: 2.3.3 Keywords: | Port: --------------------------+-------------------------------- The Yosemite installer won't run on El Capitan. I'm very surprised that MacPorts is not yet ready after months of public betas. Is there a documented history of how it got to this point? Lacking volunteers? The @MacPorts Twitter feed has been silent for months. Is this project dying in favour of alternatives (eg. Homebrew)? -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/49024> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X

We are preparing a new version of MacPorts 2.3.4 which will include an installer for El Capitan. Please wait. If you cannot wait, you can install MacPorts from source. We are not dying. I'm not sure who, if anyone at this point, handles the MacPorts twitter handle. We primarily communicate with users via our mailing lists and IRC. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/49024#comment:1> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X

I appreciate the quick response. I did manage to figure it out via a blog post instructing to rebuild MacPorts manually, and then run selfupdate, which reinstalls each port for this newer architecture. I guess I just wish the Migrations page was not so confusing. It wasn't helpful at all. And Xcode doesn't seem to be getting better, only more complicated. Installing the command line tools used to be so obvious, but no longer is. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/49024#comment:2> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X
