Are you sure you're using `sudo`? If so, can you try running `sudo port clean automake`, and, if it's still present, manually removing the symlink /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_devel_automake/automake/work, and then trying again? -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/52425#comment:2> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for the Mac operating system

I'm curious what permissions are required and how to determine if they have been granted. I also want to know how to grant them. I have been able to successfully complete two other ports (cabextract and unzip). I will complete the instructions you have provided and report back with the outcome. Thanks. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/52425#comment:3> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for the Mac operating system

You can try removing the directory /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_devel_automake, and then trying again. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/52425#comment:4> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X
