It tells me the installation was successful but no port commands work in the terminal. If I type
man port
I get the response: No manual entry for port -- Ticket URL: <http://trac.macports.org/ticket/17273> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for Mac OS

I acknowledge completely this may be due to my own lack of understanding. I do use the terminal a lot but there is a lot I don't know. I have not dealt with profile files before and would not have known they existed. Regardless, I have checked and the installation created both a .profile file in my home directory and a profile at /etc/profile. They both look correct to me - at least they make sense. I have attached both files. However still no man entry for port. Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated. -- Ticket URL: <http://trac.macports.org/ticket/17273#comment:2> MacPorts <http://www.macports.org/> Ports system for Mac OS
