Supported font types include TrueType, OpenType, and Type1. Included with the source code of fntsample is one for another, somewhat unrelated tool: 'pdfoutline'. 'pdfoutline' is a commandline tool that lets you add PDF outlines (a.k.a. PDF bookmarks) to any PDF file.
