could be- it certainly seems to fail at linking stage. The check for llvm-gcc-4.2 per-se is right: one of the tests hangs when gmp is built with llvm-gcc-4.2, but on the other hand clang seems to produce even more invalid code (which doesn't even link). I've found that by getting the current version: ... and removing the following from the Portfile: ... I can link and install.
