Googling the error, it seems we must provide either ecj1 in MacPorts, or else provide gcc with an ecj.jar from which it will produce ecj1. We already have an eclipse-ecj32 port; maybe we just need to provide a newer eclipse-ecj34 port (though I had trouble building it because it seems to want Java 1.6 and Mac OS X (at least Tiger) only has Java 1.5).
