[MacPorts] #49444: xfig textfields do not accept text
#49444: xfig textfields do not accept text -------------------------------------+-------------------------------- Reporter: MacPorts@… | Owner: macports-tickets@… Type: defect | Status: new Priority: Normal | Milestone: Component: ports | Version: 2.3.4 Keywords: xfig textfield readonly | Port: xfig @3.2.5b_8 -------------------------------------+-------------------------------- Everything seems to work fine in xfig (all drawing features and GUI elements) EXCEPT for textfields. I know to have my mouse cursor in the textfield and type. Clicking first doesn't help. I discovered this first trying to type a filename for SaveAs, and later when trying to Edit a Text element to change its text. Note that it DOES work to type text on the drawing using the Text mode tool. It fails in the Edit inspector which uses a textfield to change the text. It's as if the textfield GUI element is in readonly mode everywhere it is used. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/49444> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X

I use a three- button mouse from logitech, and pressing the center scroll button does "paste" operation. Surprisingly paste operation (if done from mouse) works! So, here is what you do: a) Write down the text you want in some editor, b) Copy it. c) Go back to xfig's window d) Use a 3-button mouse to do a paste operation. Paste from keyboard doesn't work. Hope that helps! Thanks, Aman -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/49444#comment:2> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X

Even with a 2-button mouse the trick works, provided one has the "emulate three-button" set in the X11 configuration: just hold the option key and click to paste -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/49444#comment:4> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X

Option-click works on my MacBook track-pad as well (with XQuartz). I've been getting by with editing the .fig file in Emacs, and starting new files first in Emacs and then opening them in xfig, but now I can paste in a filename for Save As. - Julius -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.macports.org/ticket/49444#comment:5> MacPorts <https://www.macports.org/> Ports system for OS X
