From what I can determine, elfutils is "a collection of libraries and utilities for working with ELF object files and DWARF debugging information." [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DWARF DWARF] does seem to exist on OS X. The [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executable_and_Linkable_Format ELF file format] is used on many operating systems, but not on OS X, which uses [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mach-O Mach-O] instead. As such, I don't know whether elfutils is useful on OS X or whether it can even compile on OS X.
