Elias, Thanks for trying to help. I had been trying to do my installs from the terminal, but sure enough I would spend hours installing something like the GD libraries only to run into a glitch with dependencies, and come to a grinding halt. I eventually tried FINK and did not like the way it handled things, for some reason having /sw seemed to bother me. Anyway, hopefully MacPorts will work for me. I am using PortAuthority which I also downloaded a couple of days ago... THIS didn't quite work.... % sudo port selfupdate Password: Error: /opt/local/bin/port: selfupdate failed: Couldn't sync dports tree: sync failed doing rsync [04/14/07](9:16am)[iMacG5:~] % I will try to re-install MacPorts I had just downloaded and installed this a couple of days ago Not sure where to go from here, I can try to re-install rsync I use PsyncX all the time, and I think it relies on rsync Best Regards, Bill Hernandez Plano, Texas On Apr 14, 2007, at 1:35 AM, Elias Pipping wrote:
Judging by the version of mysql5, you haven't synced for at least 3 months.
Also (hence), you're still running MacPorts 1.3.2 or older.
Please run
sudo port selfupdate
and try again.
