problem installing shapelib

I'm trying to install xastir which has shapelib as a dependency. The installation stops with this: ---> Configuring shapelib Error: Target com.apple.configure returned: invalid command name "no" Error: Status 1 encountered during processing. I tried cleaning the port. I tried port sync. I tried port upgrade outdated. I've run out of ideas. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
