Where can I find the config.log file referenced?
Have you installed the XCode- Tools? Which gcc you where
using (gcc_select) - on which OS /Architecture (gcc 3.3 (XCode)
does not work on intel mac's for examle)
(would use "find" to find config.log;)

I would be inclined to reinstall the whole ports system. if you don't have any ports installed, you could just wipe out /opt and start over.
