Instead, I would be in favor of releasing a build of MacPorts that is branded as such. MacPorts 1.3.3.dmg, or MacPorts 1.4.dmg, or whatever. Until such a time as that is done, I have changed the wording on the aforementioned wiki page to read "Download the latest MacPorts (or DarwinPorts) .dmg disk image you find in the MacPorts download area."
How hard would it be to add a "Download" link--say, for Panther and Tiger--to the very front of the MacPorts page, under "Getting Started," that includes the *direct* download links for the relevant .dmg's? (The one for Tiger, as well as the one for Panther.) I'm sure that's the first thing that most visitors to the website are looking for, and it's nearly impossible to find the downloads--the average newbie is going to steer clear of "Source Code." I'd also suggest considering renaming the "wiki" link to "User Help," "How-to," or something like that, since it's also a non-intuitive title. - -- Kevin Walzer Code by Kevin http://www.codebykevin.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (Darwin) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFFoUylEsLm8HXyq4sRAuc5AJ43DNvVotG7WwTyvCaWYXqLEPW7WACeKIc/ BAXjprTLoVfNx8cfoEXDKmg= =lqAw -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
