dbus-0.92 workaround?

I noticed there is a semi-automated workaround that enables dbus-0.92 to install on Panther: http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/macports/ticket/10659 Only I don't seem to be able to follow the instructions... ... I can pass the prefix option to configure but, I seem to be missing what it means in step 1. by "setting the FLAGS (INSTALL.txt)" so if anybody help me out I would really appreciate it. Tim
