Issue resolved. User failed to figure out the Apple Developer web site. I had installed the latest Xcode tools from the Mac OS X page (2.2.1) instead of the latest Xcode tools from the Developer Tools page (2.4.1). I will commit sepuku as soon as I obtain an authentic Samurai sword. It does help to know that the software works under similar conditions. On May 15, 2007, at 10:24 PM, Ryan Schmidt wrote:
This may not be very helpful, but gcc41 and gcc42 install just fine for me on an Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro. Not sure why it's not working for you. What other ports do you have installed? And what things do you have in /usr/local which might conflict with MacPorts? What does "which nm" say on your system? On mine, I get "/ usr/bin/nm".
