All, I downloaded a few things required by php, such as gettext, gd, openssl, etc. and it all went fine, I also installed apache2, but prior to installing php I wanted to install mysql, and postgresql, but was not able to get the install to work. I tried restarting, switching routers, etc, but had no luck... Elias, Thanks for trying to help. I had been trying to do my installs from the terminal, but sure enough I would spend hours installing something like the GD libraries only to run into a glitch with dependencies, and come to a grinding halt. I eventually tried FINK and did not like the way it handled things, for some reason having /sw seemed to bother me. Anyway, hopefully MacPorts will work for me. I am using PortAuthority which I also downloaded a couple of days ago...
