Hi! If I try to install gimp, I get a linkage error with libglade2: ld: duplicate symbol _g_bit_nth_lsf in .libs/glade-xml.o and .libs/ glade-init.o collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Any idea how to circumvent this problem?

That's this bug, which I thought was fixed but has apparently been reopened: http://trac.macports.org/projects/macports/ticket/13006

This bug is also jumping out a biting me now on a new, clean install of Macports on Leopard.. http://trac.macports.org/projects/macports/ticket/13160 Getting GIMP working again is really getting painful... *sigh* -- David Orriss Jr. My blog: http://www.codethought.com/blog My PalmOS apps: http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.developer&userID=82264...

The current problem with orbit2 is an additional (different) bug of the same type as the glib2 problem -- there is a patch but Im waiting to hear from the patch authour before I try it. If you have a clean instalation you have nothing to loose by trying it though. :) good luck and let us know if you do. Naw.. I'm getting burned out trying. I'll use GIMP in XP under Parallels and just buy more RAM so I can keep XP running in the Parallels system more often without impacting my other work. It's just gone beyond being with the trouble now... :| It'll be slower but at least I can use something until someone figures out all this.. -- David Orriss Jr. My blog: http://www.codethought.com/blog My PalmOS apps: http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.developer&userID=82264...

I'm using GIMP on my ubuntu boxes (one at home, one at work) whenever I can. Maybe one day they'll be a native GIMP... (hey a guy can dream right?) Hmm I was thinking of getting VMWare fusion... maybe I could run the windows version with fusion? --Mike H
