port sync + svn via ssh

Hi, my local ports tree is in an svn which I access via svn+ssh and not http. When I simply log into the svn+ssh server (via ssh) then authentication happens via pubkey. But when called from a 'port sync', the authentication falls back into password mode. The port man page says that port uses the user who owns the local port tree will be used for an 'svn update' and I can see the euid and egid being set in macports.tcl. But svn/ssh apparently does something else here then rely on these. Has anybody an idea what to do to make this work or is running a similar setup?
