Problems building PostgreSQL 8.2 on Leopard (ppc,G4)
Just wondering if anyone's encountered the same problem I did trying to build PostgreSQL 8.2 on a PowerPC G4 running Leopard (gcc 4.0.1)? Complete error dump and installed package list provided below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks, Warren p.s. MacPorts is great!! Much more elegant than working with Fink. sh-3.2# port install postgresql82-server +plperl ---> Fetching postgresql82 ---> Verifying checksum(s) for postgresql82 ---> Extracting postgresql82 ---> Applying patches to postgresql82 ---> Configuring postgresql82 ---> Building postgresql82 Error: Target org.macports.build returned: shell command " cd "/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_databases_postgresql82/work/postgresql-8.2.5" && gnumake " returned error 2 Command output: "_boot_yylval", referenced from: _boot_yylval$non_lazy_ptr in SUBSYS.o "_debug_query_string", referenced from: _debug_query_string$non_lazy_ptr in SUBSYS.o _debug_query_string$non_lazy_ptr in SUBSYS.o _debug_query_string$non_lazy_ptr in SUBSYS.o "_Geqo_selection_bias", referenced from: _Geqo_selection_bias$non_lazy_ptr in SUBSYS.o _ConfigureNamesReal in SUBSYS.o "_base_yyleng", referenced from: _base_yyleng$non_lazy_ptr in SUBSYS.o "_locale_time", referenced from: _ConfigureNamesString in SUBSYS.o "_base_yylloc", referenced from: _base_yylloc$non_lazy_ptr in SUBSYS.o "_geqo_threshold", referenced from: _geqo_threshold$non_lazy_ptr in SUBSYS.o _ConfigureNamesInt in SUBSYS.o "_boot_yytext", referenced from: _boot_yytext$non_lazy_ptr in SUBSYS.o "_base_yylval", referenced from: _base_yylval$non_lazy_ptr in SUBSYS.o "_Dynamic_library_path", referenced from: _Dynamic_library_path$non_lazy_ptr in SUBSYS.o _ConfigureNamesString in SUBSYS.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status gnumake[2]: *** [postgres] Error 1 gnumake[1]: *** [all] Error 2 gnumake: *** [all] Error 2 Error: The following dependencies failed to build: postgresql82 Error: Status 1 encountered during processing. sh-3.2# port installed The following ports are currently installed: apache2 @2.2.6_0 (active) apr @1.2.11_0+darwin_9 (active) apr-util @1.2.10_0 (active) bison @2.3_0 (active) bzip2 @1.0.4_1 (active) curl @7.17.1_0 (active) db44 @4.4.20_1 (active) expat @2.0.1_0 (active) freetype @2.3.5_0 (active) gawk @3.1.5_2 (active) gettext @0.17_1 (active) jpeg @6b_2 (active) libiconv @1.12_0 (active) libmcrypt @2.5.8_0 (active) libpng @1.2.23_0 (active) libxml2 @2.6.30_0 (active) libxslt @1.1.22_0 (active) m4 @1.4.10_1 (active) mhash @0.9.9_0 (active) ncurses @5.6_0 (active) ncursesw @5.6_0 (active) openssl @0.9.8g_0 (active) pcre @7.4_0 (active) pkgconfig @0.22_0 (active) readline @5.2.007_0+darwin_9 (active) sqlite3 @3.5.2_0 (active) zlib @1.2.3_1 (active)

Yes: http://trac.macports.org/projects/macports/ticket/12994 I added your email address to the ticket's Cc list so you'll be informed of any progress getting the problem fixed. It looks like there is a fix in the ticket. You should read it and see if that fix works for you.
p.s. MacPorts is great!! Much more elegant than working with Fink.
Glad you like it!
