After installing binary release macirb is not working: {{{ /Library/Frameworks/MacRuby.framework/Versions/0.2/usr/lib/ruby/1.9.0/irb/context.rb:11:in `require': no such file to load -- irb/workspace.rb.bundle (LoadError) from /Library/Frameworks/MacRuby.framework/Versions/0.2/usr/lib/ruby/1.9.0/irb/context.rb:11:in `<top (required)>' from /Library/Frameworks/MacRuby.framework/Versions/0.2/usr/lib/ruby/1.9.0/irb.rb:14:in `require' from /Library/Frameworks/MacRuby.framework/Versions/0.2/usr/lib/ruby/1.9.0/irb.rb:14:in `<top (required)>' from /usr/local/bin/macirb:9:in `require' from /usr/local/bin/macirb:9:in `<main>' }}} and InterfaceBuilder do not recognize my classes. Installing testing branch form source fails. I reverted original ruby and tried again: {{{ ./miniruby -I./lib -I.ext/common -I./- -r./ext/purelib.rb ext/extmk.rb --make="/usr/bin/make" --dest-dir="" --extout=".ext" --mflags="" --make- flags="" --extension --extstatic mkmf.rb can't find header files for ruby at ./include/ruby.h rake aborted! One frequent problem for people following -trunk is that internal changes to MacRuby can cause older versions of the objects or miniruby itself to cause heisenbugs in the build process. This leads to frequent "rake clean" and even "rm -rf /Library/Frameworks/MacRuby.framework" phases, to keep cross-contamination to a minimum, so "rake clean" should do its job better by also cleaning the miniruby binary -- Ticket URL: <http://www.macruby.org/trac/ticket/170> MacRuby <http://macruby.org/>

The following code works fine on Leopard's standard Ruby, but causes MacRuby to die: {{{ require 'csv' filename = "/Users/treed/Documents/test.fr" friends = [] class Friend attr_accessor :first_name, :last_name, :phone_number, :email_address end reader = CSV.open(filename, 'r') reader.each do |row| # All of this inside the loop can be commented out and the outcome is the same. friend = Friend.new friend.first_name = (row[0] || "") friend.last_name = (row[1] || "") friend.phone_number = (row[2] || "") friend.email_address = (row[3] || "") friends << friend end reader.close }}} It seems like it's the call to ''reader.each'' that's crashing. ''reader.shift'' works fine, but even a blank loop with ''reader.each'' seems to crash. If more info is needed, let me know and I can try to provide. (Yeah, I was trying to implement the suggestions at the end of the ADC tutorial. BTW, nice work so far, guys. In particular, RCLASS_VERSION, RCLASS_META and similar definitions like it use a (void *) pointer as the base for some pointer arithmetic. For example: # define RCLASS_VERSION(m) (*(long *)((void *)m + (sizeof(void *) * 3))) The problem is the (void *) typecast before "m". C++ does not allow pointer arithmetic based off of a (void *) pointer. I was able to work around this issue by hacking my local copy of the header to use an unsigned char * in the place of the void * value.
