Looking at http://www.sfruby.info/#upcoming, I don't see anything scheduled during WWDC (June 6-10). If the WWDC attendees in the crowd can settle on a date (ideally, one that works for Jordan and Laurent :-), I'll be happy to put in the schedule. I can probably also find a venue for the event; let me know if this is an issue... -r -- http://www.cfcl.com/rdm Rich Morin http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/resume rdm@cfcl.com http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/weblog +1 650-873-7841 Software system design, development, and documentation
(Sorry for the late reply!) I would be glad to attend any MacRuby meetup during WWDC, and reply to any question and discuss MacRuby's current state and future. Rich, if you still desire to organize something, please go ahead. Last year I tried to organize something but it was a failure, too many people came and I wasn't able to find a good place. Let's hope it will work out better this year :) Cheers, Laurent On Mar 30, 2011, at 7:31 PM, Rich Morin wrote:

Unfortunately, I can't find any schedule information for the evenings of June 6-9. So, I'm not in a good position to suggest a date. Would some folks that are attending please let me know which evenings/times to avoid? -r -- http://www.cfcl.com/rdm Rich Morin http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/resume rdm@cfcl.com http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/weblog +1 650-873-7841 Software system design, development, and documentation

Maybe we should make a quick poll (here + twitter)? I think the biggest challenge here would be to find the venue. Laurent
Hey Laurent, How many people came last year? I can start asking around and see if any local companies have the space to host a meetup. christian. On Apr 6, 2011, at 6:34 PM, Laurent Sansonetti wrote:

Hi Christian, According to https://www.macruby.org/trac/wiki/MacRubyWWDC09, about 20, but I remember there were many more people coming that night (maybe 2x more). And MacRuby is way more popular this year. I think that if the meetup is properly advertised, at least 50 people will come. Laurent On Apr 7, 2011, at 12:01 PM, Christian Niles wrote:

50 is easily doable. I've contacted a few companies I know around Moscone who would likely be interested in hosting. I'm pretty sure one of them will be amenable. Assuming that works out, what are people interested in organizing at the meetup? I'm somewhat partial to happy-hour format, in which drinks and a projector are provided and people can signup for lightening talks in an informal way. christian. Erik Michaels-Ober (@sferik) is willing to do a reprise of his MacRuby intro talk. This might be a good way for local Rubyists to get some background information before we start the regular BOF. -r -- http://www.cfcl.com/rdm Rich Morin http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/resume rdm@cfcl.com http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/weblog +1 650-873-7841 Software system design, development, and documentation
Weird. I'm friends with Erik and never knew he gave a talk about MacRuby. That makes it easy to convince him to do it :) On Apr 8, 2011, at 12:23 PM, Rich Morin wrote:

He gave it at Ruby on Ales a couple of weeks ago: Erik Michaels-Ober Gui Programming with Mac Ruby -- http://ruby.onales.com/speakers Last night, he gave a shortened version of it to SFRuby. -r -- http://www.cfcl.com/rdm Rich Morin http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/resume rdm@cfcl.com http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/weblog +1 650-873-7841 Software system design, development, and documentation
