Hey, Could we have a separate mailing list for bug reports, and another mailing list for MacRuby users? The mailing list seems to be a lot more popular lately, with 90% of posts being bug reports, and I'm not too excited about reading bug reports ;-) </suggestion> Rob ---- http://robgleeson.github.com Website http://github.com/robgleeson GitHub rob@flowof.info E-Mail
Hi Rob, I see. Originally the list was created to discuss the development of MacRuby, but I understand that some people might only be interested in users questions. However I think that the discussion inside tickets can be interesting to users, too. Do the bug reports being posted here bother others too? Laurent On Aug 6, 2010, at 7:07 PM, Rob Gleeson wrote:

It does greatly increase the noise of the list for me. I'd rather get that information as an RSS feed, or a separate mailing list, so I can more easily follow actual discussions. -- Ernie P.

It has become too much for someone who just wants to keep up with the state of MacRuby at the high level view. I have started deleting messages without reading them, and have been considering unsubscribing. Nothing wrong with the list, but just not the right list for my needs. (I'm not using MacRuby at the moment, just weighing pros & cons and wanting to monitor status.) -- Scott Ribe scott_ribe@elevated-dev.com http://www.elevated-dev.com/ (303) 722-0567 voice
We could just as easily have two lists, and those who are interested in bug reports could subscribe to both. -Matt On Sunday, August 8, 2010, Michael Pitra <michael@pitra.at> wrote:

I don't care. I'm interested in both the user discussions and the bug reports, so that I get an overview of the current status. So for me, it's more convenient to have them here.

This is how other projects I follow do it. Keeps discussions on the list separate from discussions in tickets, and makes it easy for people to follow only one of the lists if they wish. C --- Caius Durling caius@caius.name +44 (0) 7960 268 100 http://caius.name/

+1 even though Eudora filters out most of the bug reports for me. -r -- http://www.cfcl.com/rdm Rich Morin http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/resume rdm@cfcl.com http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/weblog +1 650-873-7841 Technical editing and writing, programming, system design
Okay, since there seems to be some kind of consensus I will talk to our admin tomorrow to create a separate list for tickets. I will give a pointer tot he new list here once it's done so that people interested in tickets can subscribe. Laurent On Aug 8, 2010, at 1:23 PM, Rich Morin wrote:
