I was using rspec 2.4 with the latest nightly build (Jan 6). #1180: REQUEST: set rubygems to allow gem activation on *.rbo files ------------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Reporter: mrada@… | Owner: lsansonetti@… Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: blocker | Milestone: Component: MacRuby | Keywords: ------------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Rubygems will only be able to activate a gem if the require string is the exact file name, or if the string plus a set of predefined file suffixes exactly matches a file. In the case of a compiled gem where the original *.rb files have been removed, rubygems will think that the file does not exist. This can be worked around by using #gem first to avoid the code path that rubygems would normally take when trying to find a file in a gem and simply activate the gems paths. A better solution would be to add '.rbo' to the list of known file suffixes. However, with rubygems 1.4.2, the list of suffixes is static, so the list would have to be directly edited. Around rubygems 1.6.0, the list of suffixes became an instance variable which can modified from the MacRuby specific defaults file. This does not occur if a Gemfile isn't present in the current directory. I searched Trac for duplicates, but the closest I found was #554. If I create a class with an initialize method that takes a variable length argument: class XX ; def initialize (*x) ; end ; end then "XX.new.methods" includes :initialize (to test this, try it in its own file or a new macirb session, so there are no other classes defined). initialize should not show up as a public method. If I try to call the method (e.g. "XX.new.initialize"), it has the proper behavior (says it can't, because initialize is private). If I create another XX instance, but pass a parameter, e.g. "XX.new(1).methods", :initialize goes away. If I call "XX.new.methods" again, :initialize is no longer there as well (feels like a Ruby class initialization problem). I've done some searching and see that this has been an on and off again issue, so I'm not sure what to do. For some reason, I can create a new project from the template and distribute an app with no code, but it does not work for my app. I've even tried removing the framework from my project in Xcode and re-adding it, but there is no difference. I also tried creating a new project from the template, adding all of my code, and it still wouldn't work.
