With Mavericks natively joined to AD and the latest SmartCardServices for Mavericks that Shawn Geddis (Apple) provides, you can do it. It won’t unlock the computer (FileVault2) at pre-boot, but will unlock the screen lock and enable login at a normal OS X login screen.
