glx and multi-sampling

Hi, running glxinfo with the latest version (2.1.2), it turns out that glx is at version 1.2, that GLX_ARB_multisample is available on the both of the server and the client side but that multi-sampling is actuall off: Visual ID: 27 depth=24 class=TrueColor bufferSize=32 level=0 renderType=rgba doubleBuffer=0 stereo=0 rgba: redSize=8 greenSize=8 blueSize=8 alphaSize=8 auxBuffers=0 depthSize=16 stencilSize=8 accum: redSize=16 greenSize=16 blueSize=16 alphaSize=16 multiSample=0 multiSampleBuffers=0 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ visualCaveat=None I've got a Mac Pro with a GeForce 7300 GT and multisampling is available if I program with the native Apple API's. Recovered files (font cache) issue in users's trash can

Hi! Since weeks, I have a problem with the font cache under Leopard (only if logged-in as user -- logged-in as admin, the problem doesn't occur), and I can't see the cause or how to solve the problem. System: MBP 17“, Leopard (currently 10.5.2) Latest XQuartz from http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz for running Gimp properly. The problem firstly occured between 10.5.1 and 10.5.2, and I don't remember, if before or after switching from Apple's factory X11 to the one of XQuartz's project, so I don't know, wether my problem has anything to do with the XQuartz/X11 exchange or not. Regulary, being logged-in as user, my user account's trash can isn't empty but contains of a directory "Recovered files", which itself contains a directory like "ATS - 223553367". This ATS-something-directory itself may contain files like "annex_auth" (executable), "Local.fcache", "System.fcache", "User.fcache" and "font". The files "annex_auth" and "font" are always there, the others may be part of the folder the next login. Mostly, I can delete these files by emptying trash, but not every single time. Sometimes (not everytime) the system denies that, because one or all of theses files seem to be locked by the system because of usage. I have tried everything to ged rid of these cache files, I have deleted the font cache systemwide, for the user, I have made a "Safe Boot", I have used the tool OnyX. The problem resists -- if I have luck, the first boot after deleting font cache files seems to be OK, but the second or third boot, the trash can of my user account contains again these files. After searching around the net and not finding a solution, I have logged-in as admin or root into the shell, went to /var/folders/ kp/kpPJ1m.../-Caches- folder, and there is a folder com.apple.ATS/, which seems to consist of exactly these fonts, which are regulary in my trash can unter "Recovered files". The folder com.apple.ATS/ and all below has the the owner/group of "admin/staff". Quite the same with the folder /var/folders/zz/zzzivh.../-Caches-/System. There do exist the files "annex_auth" and "font". Is this the system's user's font cache under Leopard (I have read, something has changed on Leopard concerning that)? Both, files and folders unter zzzivh.../ do have the owner/group "_atsserver/_atsserver". Deleting these files manually seems to resolve the issue for exactly one time after logging- out and logging-in again or rebooting. For the next time, I reboot or log-in as user, the user's trash can again consists of "Recovered files" and these font cache files. So, what the hell is the cause of this issue, and how can I get rid of it? Can anybody help me to solve this annoying issue? Help would be appreciated. Hi, It was brought to my attention that Fink is shipping an xinitrc which is clobbering the one provided by Xquartz. Could you please tell me what you need in xinitrc, so I can provide this functionality rather than clobbering eachother. Actually, I think I know the issue... Do: grep RRNumberRequests /usr/X11/include/X11/extensions/randr.h I'm betting you have an old randrproto (meaning that will not output anything). The OS-X update includes only binary updates. The corresponding header updates will come with a new Xcode release whenever that happens. 2.1.4 release

2.1.4 is out. It is the same as 2.1.4-rc1, but I stripped the 64bit code from /usr/X11/bin/fc-* (which addresses the fc-cache crashing issue on some intel boxes) http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz/wiki/X112.1.4

i just joined the xquartz-dev mailing list. i'm the lead developer of ardour (http://ardour.org/) which is a digital audio workstation that runs on linux and OS X. i've spent several months now working on both ardour itself and the port of GTK+ (which is the GUI toolkit that ardour uses) to Quartz. a few days ago, i finally bothered to compare the performance of ardour on Tiger when built with GTK/X11 versus its performance when built with GTK/Quartz. the difference was terrifying. the GTK/Quartz version uses twice the overall CPU cycles that the GTK/X11 one does. i started digging into this and at the moment, i am fairly convinced that its Cocoa that is the major issue. rather than bore this list with those specific issues however, what i wanted to ask was whether or not xquartz does/will/will not address the original issues that led us in search of a "native" version: drag-n-drop from non-X11 windows, and integration with the main menu bar model (neither of these are sensibly possible with the X11.app that predates Leopard). can an X11 application use these facilities without gross hacks and kludges? if not, is this expected at some point? thanks, --p

Latest xquartz kills focus follows mouse

I upgraded from 2.1.3 (with xserv 1.3-0-apple-10) to 2.1.4 with 1.3.0-apple-10 Now, the value in org.x.X11 for wm_ffm does not affect the focus. This really belongs in -dev rather than -users, so I'm responding there... Take a look at the attached code. You can pull what you need out of it. This was my little test app for testing the focus bug and spits out the windows in X11 z depth ordering. this didn't actually prevent the server from starting, did it? You still get your xterm... just your font cache isn't generated... Also, I notice the code type is x86_64... I built fontconfig with all archs because libs in Leopard are supposed to be all archs (ppc, ppc64, i386, x86_64) and I just didn't strip out the 64bit versions from the executables.
