Oh, I see, I had to quit X11 manually (by force-quitting) and finish via Installer.app. Then relaunching X11 showed an update to XQuartz 2.4.0_rc1 (xorg-server 1.5.3-apple12) AND there is now a Check for X11 updates... menu item. Robert Wyatt wrote:
The installer does seem to wait until the second time X11 is run. Mine hung at "Installing update..." After force quitting, the version had not been updated. Maybe tomorrow it will work.

Sparkle apparently suppresses the update the first time the application is run, so that might be what you saw. The next version will have a menu item to force the recheck. I'm battling with a bug in how Sparkle interacts with our 'Windows' menu at the moment, so it may be a few days before I have the next beta or rc... but thanks for the feedback.

Hi,
My beta4 didnot give me any Sparkle information, however my reading "defaults read org.x.X11 SULastCheckTime" indicates it did check the version: 2009-07-23 13:20:56 -0700 but nothing happened.
I am using a G4 laptop with mac os x 10.5.7.
