I have a (repeatable) crash with xfig. Unfortunately, I don't use xfig often enough to know when it last didn't crash X11. Here is the console log first: 19/08/2009 11:49:26 ReportCrash[7447] Formulating crash report for process X11.bin[4030] 19/08/2009 11:49:27 ReportCrash[7447] Formulating crash report for process xfig[7404] 19/08/2009 11:49:27 ReportCrash[7447] Formulating crash report for process xfig[7404] 19/08/2009 11:49:27 ReportCrash[7447] Saved crashreport to /Users/viv/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/X11.bin_2009-08-19-114922_pneu.crash using uid: 4270 gid: 1005, euid: 4270 egid: 1005 19/08/2009 11:49:27 com.apple.launchd[869] ([0x0-0xe10e1].org.x.X11[4030]) Stray process with PGID equal to this dead job: PID 7404 PPID 1 xfig 19/08/2009 11:49:27 com.apple.launchd[869] ([0x0-0xe10e1].org.x.X11[4030]) Stray process with PGID equal to this dead job: PID 4268 PPID 1 xterm 19/08/2009 11:49:27 com.apple.launchd[869] ([0x0-0xe10e1].org.x.X11[4030]) Exited abnormally: Segmentation fault 19/08/2009 11:49:27 [0x0-0xe10e1].org.x.X11 xterm: fatal IO error 32 (Broken pipe) or KillClient on X server "/tmp/launch-fwApBY/:0" 19/08/2009 11:49:27 [0x0-0xe10e1].org.x.X11 xterm: fatal IO error 32 (Broken pipe) or KillClient on X server "/tmp/launch-fwApBY/:0" 19/08/2009 11:49:27 [0x0-0xe10e1].org.x.X11 xterm: fatal IO error 32 (Broken pipe) or KillClient on X server "/tmp/launch-fwApBY/:0" 19/08/2009 11:49:27 [0x0-0xe10e1].org.x.X11 xfig3.2.5: SIGBUS signal trapped 19/08/2009 11:49:27 [0x0-0xe10e1].org.x.X11 xfig: figure empty or not modified - exiting 19/08/2009 11:49:27 org.x.startx[4073] /usr/X11/bin/xinit: connection to X server lost. 19/08/2009 11:49:27 org.x.startx[4073] waiting for X server to shut down 19/08/2009 11:49:27 ReportCrash[7447] Saved crashreport to /Users/viv/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/xfig_2009-08-19-114927_pneu.crash using uid: 4270 gid: 1005, euid: 4270 egid: 1005 19/08/2009 11:49:27 ReportCrash[7447] Saved crashreport to /Users/viv/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/xfig_2009-08-19-114927_pneu.crash using uid: 4270 gid: 1005, euid: 4270 egid: 1005 you can see by the end of it, this time it has even taken down the Crash Reporter! I had tried to select all and copy from the details winow of the gui. This worked yesterday on a different machine, and the attached file X11crash090818.txt contains the contents of that window. Also attached are a corresponding pair (i.e. yesterday's) crash reports. What happens from a user point of view is that everything is going swimmingly editing and drawing a figure, and the first time the export function (to save as a pdf, jpg, whatever) is called it works as expected. But the second time export is selected from the file menu, the whole lot dies. xfig and associated dependencies have been installed via fink. Am happy to try provide more info if you let me know what would be useful. Am also happy to try rebuilding xfig and dependencies, but if it is purely an xfig problem, surely it shouldn't take out the xserver like that? -- Viv ________________________________________________ Dr Viv Kendon http://quantum.leeds.ac.uk/~viv tel: +44 113 343 4864 Physics and Astronomy Quantum Information Group University of Leeds
