I am also seeing this problem.  With "ssh -vvv" on SL with the stock X11 I get the following:

debug2: x11_get_proto: /usr/X11R6/bin/xauth  list /tmp/launch-fliXNa/:0 2>/dev/null
Warning: No xauth data; using fake authentication data for X11 forwarding.
debug1: Requesting X11 forwarding with authentication spoofing.
debug2: channel 0: request x11-req confirm 0

I tried running the xauth command without redirection and did not get any output.

Since updating to 10.6.2 last night, I notice that every single outbound
ssh -Y connection reports

Warning: No xauth data; using fake authentication data for X11 forwarding.

This happens with both 2.4.1_beta1 and the stock Snow Leopard X11.
I've seen this message before but only occasionally; now it seems
100% reproducible.  Anyone else see it?  Any suggestions about
investigating the cause?

I see it going from a 10.6.2 machine running 2.4.1_beta1, but not on my other machine which has 10.6.2 with the vanilla SL X11.

I do not have this problem. I am running 10.6.2 with the default X11 on SL.
