That's a copy-paste bug. It's fixed in git, but it's not in a released X11 yet. I doubt that error message is releated, but you can try disabling pbproxy to see if it has any effect.

I am writing this on my macbook air - with 10.6 - I did not have this problem with 10.6
There were no X11 updates in 10.6.1... I'd be curious what the state of 'xmodmap -pk' reports when you're in this state.
When will X11 2.4.1 be released?
"When it's ready." As mentioned last week, I'm having a bit of a hiccup building 2.4.1. The code is ready to release, but I've encountered an odd bug in the build process with Sparkle. If I can't get it addressed in the next day or so, I'll probably do a sparkle-less 2.4.1 alpha. --Jeremy
