So either the ~/.fonts entry of fonts.conf should be replaced by ~/ Library/Fonts, or ~/.fonts should be removed and ~/Library/Fonts added to 5-osx-fonts.conf.
Also, since /usr/X11R6 is a symbolic link to /usr/X11, all of the X11 fonts are being cached twice. The /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts entry should probably be deleted.
Otherwise, I haven't had any issues with 2.3.0-rc3 that haven't been mentioned previously.
