may I refer you to an earlier email in this thread from Jeremy?

We haven't gotten a
response from the GTK devs to let us know why it's being ignored (and
what hoops we need to jump through to make sure it's used by gimp).

perhaps I presumed too much to assume that there might be a comparable effort in implementing elsewhere?

what would this have to do with XQuartz, since the entire purpose of
"native GTK" is to completely bypass any need for an X server?
