I still see this occasionally too even with the simple border example that I had sent. For me, the borders are always shown if the window is in the upper-left corner of the display, but as the window is moved further from the upper-left corner less and less of the borders are shown upon a re-draw. xfontsel. Note how the border disappears near the edge of the image. On smaller menus, it's missing entirely.
