X11 freezeup seen again
Currently running 2.5.0_beta1 with server 1.7.3; up-to-date 10.6.2. I noted this time that X11 was *not* shown as "(not responding)" in the Force Quit list. I'm not sure if I saw that before. Other symptoms the same as before: X11 menus can be pulled down but it's otherwise totally nonresponsive to keyboard and mouse events. Attached are Activity Monitor samples of X11 and quartz-wm, as Jeremy suggested grabbing last time. It's possibly relevant that at the time it froze, I had just quit out of iTunes. Also, a Time Machine backup started at more or less the same time. regards, tom lane Sampling process 5667 for 3 seconds with 1 millisecond of run time between samples Sampling completed, processing symbols... Is this the problem where you can resolve the issue by minimizing all your windows and restoring them from the dock? If so, that is already fixed (but not yet released). Turn on the preference "Click-through inactive windows" in X11 preferences to work around it. If this is another issue, please let me know. On Dec 27, 2009, at 11:53, Tom Lane wrote:

Hmm, I have no idea if that would fix it or not --- I hadn't heard of such a trick. I can tell you that the individual window title bars aren't responsive to clicking, but maybe using some magic Expose command would have made it work. Also, I did have "Click-through inactive windows" on at the time. regards, tom lane
ok, well short of being able to give me reproduction steps, let's wait to see if it triggers in the next beta.
