Can't reopen ticket on MacosForge
Dear Jeremy I can't reopen ticket #261 on xquartz.macosforge.org. I get 'Warning: No permission to change ticket fields.' As for the ticket - still fails on 2.3.3, so needs to be reopened. Best regards, Platon
Having become somewhat fed up with Macports - whose latest efforts gives me an Emacs on my PowerPC that says: Unresolved inheritance operation This is something todo with X11 I see from some Googling. Anyway, I've decided to install the few things that are 'essential' to my life myself. Emacs 22.3 compiles and runs using the 2.3.3 libraries but I miss the Xaw3d 'look' on my Linux boxes. Xaw3d compiles and installs too... so I just wondered why this is not a 'standard' part of the X11 package. Regards _____________________________________________ Peter Collinson

Not as far as I can tell... Have you 'sudo port -v upgrade outdated' ?

Because it's antiquated and unmaintained (sorry). I think most linux distros now use gtk2 for emacs rather than xaw3d...

I did all the good things: Fresh install of MacPorts sudo port selfupdate sudo port install emacs +x11 and got the above error message.

I don't think the dependencies for emacs+x11 are quite right. I've seen the same thing after upgrading the port for some low-level X11 library. Uninstalling emacs and reinstalling it has always fixed it for me, though.
