XQuartz 2.5.1 Release
Thanks to everyone for your help through the 2.5.1 development cycle. I think we've got a pretty solid release with around 40 different bugs addressed. The final release is essentially the same as rc2 with a few minor differences. You should be able to update to the release automatically by choosing "Check for X11 updates..." from the X11 menu, or you can download the release from the website. Full release notes: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/X112.5.1 Enjoy, and please report any issues. --Jeremy
Hi Jeremy, list, I've tried the "check for updates" from within the app 4 or 5 times since yesterday, and I've only gotten "An error occurred in retrieving update information. Please try again later." Is it just me? (running 2.5.1_rc2) I can hold off on doing a manual download/upgrade, if there's anything worth troubleshooting. - Brian On Sat, Jul 10, 2010 at 8:54 PM, Jeremy Huddleston jeremyhu-at-apple.com |Xquartz-dev/Allow to me| <xkwek04oxk0t@sneakemail.com> wrote:

You can't. But the X11 app itself can check for updates. See the X11 menu. Also, I think X11.app checks for updates automatically upon startup? If I got that wrong, turn it on using defaults write org.x.x11 SUEnableAutomaticChecks 1 Note, however, that some system updates include X11 updates, and they frequently conflict with the XQuartz stuff. It's somewhat annoying, but it's the price we pay for being on the bleeding edge. This means you may need to reinstall XQuartz after a system update. - Harald

This only applies to the _Leopard_ version. The Snow Leopard version does not conflict with the system version X11.app
