So today sees the first upstream release containing initial support for RandR in XQuartz. Version 1.9.0.901 (1.9.1 rc1) contains Jan's patches as well as my followups which have been revised a bit over the past couple months. I don't have a new XQuartz beta for you to try (I still have some more changes I want to make first), but those curious about the current state can try the xorg-server-devel port on MacPorts. I fixed the issue that was reported on Leopard single-monitor configurations, and the "RandR mode" for the native resolution should now appear before the "legacy fullscreen mode" one which should help applications that just pick the first match find the expected mode. I still need to add code to capture the display to avoid window resizing, and multi-monitor configurations aren't supported very well at present. Jan, have you been able to make any headway on the multi-monitor issue? --Jeremy

Any chance of a binary where I could test this out?

I'm quite certain capturing the display would fix the "flash to desktop" issue as well so that would be great. I've now gotten used to using cmd-h to switch back to desktop though, so you probably want to make sure that continues to work. A few times I've lost keyboard focus when entering RandR mode. It's not really reproducible, and not very common. I think perhaps some other X window than the game one is getting the focus, but not sure. Mouse still works. Is there perhaps some way I could ssh from another machine and see what's going on? Nice work overall, been enjoying Civ 5 for over a week now. -- Pelle Johansson

Use MacPorts or wait for the next beta (probably in the next couple weeks).

If you have a ~/x11-debug.txt file, it might contain something useful.
for what's supposed to be working, it's working pretty good. Haven't found any problems so far. Display Capturing will help a ton when that's working. On Oct 1, 2010, at 5:36 PM, Jeremy Huddleston <jeremyhu@apple.com> wrote:
