I am very pleased to announce version 2.3.1 of our X11 package for Leopard. You can find full release notes (MANY bug fixes) and details here: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/X112.3.1 And here's a direct link to the package: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/downloads/X11-2.3.1.pkg This version requires OSX 10.5.5 to be installed first, so we no longer require you to logout after installation. This final version is 100% identical to 2.3.1_rc7 which was the same as rc6 but without libGLw and the the OS version dependency updated to 10.5.5. Thanks to everyone for your help testing and reporting issues. --Jeremy
I update to 10.5.5 and all was well with my X apps other than known problems like snapshots being incomplete/messed up. I then applied the 2.3.1 update below and I now get a number of problems. 1) Initial launch of some application have a white window until I minimize them and restore then they are fine. 2) Other apps window seems to have a screwed up color map and the follow message is in the terminal from which they are launched. Can not set a CMS on a window that was created with a different visual Package: Window I see no messages in the system log. If I reinstall the 10.5.5 Combo update all is back. This is the first time anything like this has been reported. Can you reproduce it? Have you seen it in any other versions? What version were you using before you updated to 10.5.5? Did you try any of the 2.3.1 release candidates that were announced here? If so, what was the first one you saw this problem with?
2) Other apps window seems to have a screwed up color map and the follow message is in the terminal from which they are launched.

That pretty much gets you the server that was released with 2.2.3.
We have a set of applications that use Xview. I have not tried recompiling yet. We current distribute on various linux systems and OS X. On Sep 15, 2008, at 6:22 PM, Scott Buchanan wrote:

I first saw this with rc7. I believe I had rc5 installed OK. I installed 2.3.1 again and had the problem then, using pacifist, I overwrote only the X11.app and Xquartz. The window problem was gone. Right, but this doesn't help me *fix* the problem. Please answer my earlier questions: What visual are you trying to use in 2.3.1_rc5 and what one are you using in the final release? 24bit direct and true were both in 2.3.1_rc5 and haven't changed in 2.3.1. What has changed is that I added the 15bit visuals... so I'm wondering if you're trying to use the 15bit visuals before the 24bit visuals. Please get me a reproducible test case to help narrow this down.
OK, that helped and its not your problem. I found a old entry in .Xdefaults from long ago - window.visual PseudoColor This was the problem. Apologies. On Sep 16, 2008, at 4:07 PM, Jeremy Huddleston wrote:

To answer my own email, I think my .pkg file must be corrupted because xar can't unarchive it. Can someone post the MD5 sum so I can verify? The xquartz download server seems to be dreadfully slow today, I'm on a very high speed link (12Mbytes/s to download 10.5.5), but am currently getting around 10Kb/s for downloading X11-2.3.1.pkg. OK, sorry to waste everyone's time. The binary was corrupted. However Jeremy, any chance of you posting MD5 sums for binaries in future? Thanks, Jamie

I've been doing that for the tarballs. The pkgs contain checksums of the bom and are signed, so I didn't see a need to, but I will in the future.

The pkgs include signatures and checksums in them, so I didn't bother signing them like I do the packages, but I'll do that next time. --Jeremy On Sep 16, 2008, at 09:27, Jamie Kennea wrote:
