Hi all, I'd like to announce another (hopefully the last) rc for 2.3.1. Changes in rc3 over rc1 include: fixed the SwitchCoreKeyboard crash fixes key-equivalents for the input menu (command-space) pulls in Mesa-7.1 for libGLU, libglut, and libGLw uses Mesa-7.0.4 to build the server Please test it out. http://static.macosforge.org/xquartz/downloads/X11-2.3.1_rc3.pkg Thanks, Jeremy

I've noticed a strange issue with this, command-Q no longer quits X11.app; I have to use the menubar in order to exit X11.app. Is anyone else seeing this? Cheers Adam
Have you turned off 'enable key equivalents under X11' in the X11 preferences? If so, that will disable command-Q. Merle On Aug 29, 2008, at 12:00 PM, Adam Mercer wrote:

But if you hold down the command key, hit tab and navigate to the X11 icon and hit Q, all of this without letting go of the command key, it will still work. - Harald
Okay, that works and answers one of my questions. Thanks. tsg On Aug 29, 2008, at 10:45 AM, Harald Hanche-Olsen wrote:

Setting the 'enable preference' seem to make no difference - I get the same result with and without this being selected. Perhaps support for this option has gone away? Command N has stopped functioning too - so has Command-C and Command-V. Looks as if the Command characters are being interpreted as a mode switch - I get accented characters when I type them into an xterm. On 29 Aug 2008, at 17:26, Merle Reinhart wrote:

Having successfully installed 2.3.1_rc3 (OS X 10.5.4 on a MacPro Intel machine, 5 GB memory, NVIDIA QUADRO FX 4500 card), I notice that under X11-Preferences-Output the "Full screen mode" option is not pickable, i.e. grayed out. This may be something that's been around for a while, since I have not recently had the need to run in "Full screen mode", which I used to do on a second monitor (a flat screen TV). I call a rather generic .xinitrc located in $HOME and see no keyboard mappings that would influence anything in an OS X Preference pane. I also note that Command-Q does not work even with "Enable key equivalents under X11" selected in X11-Preferences-Input. Probably I'm being dumb about something but am curious about what I'm missing. tsg

I had it enabled, so I disabled and restarted X. It still doesn't work. I didn't encounter this problem in 2.3.1-rc2 and earlier. Cheers Adam
Ok... so I guess a bit of a confession here. I also noticed this just after I announced the package to the mailing list and installed it a on another machine. I then deleted the .pkg from the web thinking "it was only a few minutes from when I sent the email, who has downloaded it yet?" Upon investigation, I noticed that the file permissions were all wonkers (Package Maker.app bug... sigh). I rebuilt it from scratch and made sure the permissions and everything were right, tested it, and uploaded the new .pkg. So I apologize for the version confusion, but if you were a "quick reactor" to my announcement, you should probably download the .pkg again. Command-Q, C, N, etc were also not working for me. I had pulled the installer from the website at 6:35 this morning, but hadn't had time to fully test it until now. Re-pulled the installer to make sure I had the latest version, same problem. None of the Command whatever key combinations function. I reinstalled rc2 and key combinations now work as expected. So, the regression is definitely with rc3. Merle On Aug 29, 2008, at 2:50 PM, Jeremy Huddleston wrote:

Hmm it's always dangerous to have two objects of the same name on the machine. The previous md5 was the 'bad' pkg. It should be: md5 X11-2.3.1_rc3.pkg MD5 (X11-2.3.1_rc3.pkg) = 0b9dbde555bd9f5bd1e18e7a2f608fcf On 30 Aug 2008, at 08:05, Peter Collinson wrote:

Interesting in that I had originally installed rc3 (downloaded several hours after it was announced) and Command-Q, C, N, etc didn't work. So, I redownloaded and installed it again (my MD5 matches this latest that Peter found). Still they didn't work. At that point, I installed rc2 over the non-usable rc3 and found everything was back to working. Given Peter's positive response that it was now working for him, I decided to reinstall rc3. Well, now the Command keys are working. I have no clue as to what changed and why it now started working (my installation chain was 2.3.0 then 2.3.1_beta1, then 2.3.1_rc1, 2.3.1_rc2, 2.3.1_rc3, 2.3.1_rc2, 2.3.1_rc3).
