[CalendarServer-users] ICal unable to connect?

I have trunk working on Centos 5.6 mostly I think but can only connect to the web interface. I'm using ssl, ldap for directory, and basic authentication. I can browse principals and see users after they've been entered explicitly (/principals/users/rob) but ICal refuses to connect. There's a twisted exception being caught in the logs but not shown. There was something a bit cryptic about 'data' not being part of a value list but not sure where that would be unless it's related to the recent commit?
Any clues?
