I didn't know where to look.  The front page for Apple's Darwin release 
page:

   http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/

only provides links for Darwin up to 10.4.7.  Thanks for the pointer!

Judging by the version numbers, the files with the 1970 timestamps are 
newer than the rest of the files.  Do you know if all of the 1970 files 
are part of 10.4.8?

I'm assuming I that if I want to build 10.4.8 using darwinbuild, I will 
need to roll my own release.plist file by screen-scraping.  If you know 
of a pre-existing release.plist for 10.4.8, please feel free to let me know.
