Those of you who are a college student, work on a college campus, know
college students, or have a college student as a child, please notice:

The Google Summer of Code student application deadline for 2008 has
been extended for one week to April 7. This means that students have
one additional week to apply for a summer job to help extend MacPorts!!!

This is a great opportunity for students to get real, live, on the
ground programming experience, work on an exciting open source project
with an experienced adult mentor, and (best of all) to be paid $4500
USD by google for the summer of work.

MacPorts has many great tasks that could use attention, and still has
lots of slots for volunteers; we could use more applicants.

Please pass the word to qualified and interested student applicants:
the more applicants we get, the more slots we'll positions we'll be
granted by google. This is a great opportunity not just for the
students, but to foster and extend the MacPorts project.

Please see http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/macports/wiki/SummerOfCode
for more details. If you have questions, do hesitate to directly
contact me, William Siegrist, or any of the other mentors.

James
