We could leave out the i386-only exception in public but maintain it in practice. It's a bit disingenuous, but in a good way :)

Plus, keeping i386 from breaking is rather easier than doing so for PPC, so the difference between Tier 1 and Tier 2 would probably not be all that large to start with.
