It is an example how another project provides a presence on GitHub, but
still uses their own infrastructure for main development. They have set
it up such that any new pull requests on GitHub triggers a mail report
to the project mailing list. Replies to that mailing list thread will
even be synced back to appear as comments on GitHub.

The second link contains the repository with several scripts that seem
to make that work.

It's an interesting concept, but sounds like it requires a
fair amount of administration work for this infrastructure.
