 this i did...and reinstalled macports from the binary .dmg (just for
 kicks). after the above command and a fresh re-install, this should be a
 current and flawless system, right? i also did a {{{sudo clean --all
 installed}}}.

 however, i still get a build failure at the same point. it seems that
 {{{kateluaindentscript.cpp}}} has the problems, and it seems like it's
 because it can't find the {{{lua.h}}} and the {{{lualib.h}}} files, or
 can't parse them, or something of the sort. this is all far beyond me. i
 even made sure that {{{/opt/local/[s]*bin}}} is at the head of $PATH...is
 there such a thing as an include path variable?

 i really don't know what's going on here, and any info would be greatly
 appreciated.
