 Current macports revision is 2.1.2. General policy is to not upgrade to a
 non-stable version unless explicitly creating a *-devel port) so I suspect
 the port will be updated when 2.1.3 becomes final.

 Since the problem seems to be peculiar to your system, you might re-
 install using the debug option and see what the port is or is not doing on
 your machine to cause it to only generate the documentation.  The results
 of configure might be interesting.

 By the way, I'm running 10.4.11 ppc with Mac Ports svn trunk.
