 It looks like you did a force activate on one of the perl ports at some
 point (probably when perl5 and perl5.8 were having issues with one
 another).  Try
 {{{
 sudo port deactivate perl5.8
 sudo port activate perl5.8
 }}}
 to see if that brings /opt/local/bin/perl back.
