 Since the inner workings of the the whole porting process are way above my
 head, I must have misinterpreted the change history notes in
 [http://trac.macports.org/ticket/12037 #12037]. I thought adamore had
 contributed a patch that brought the application back into working order
 between 1.0.3 and 1.0.5– and that was why the ticket was listed as fixed
 :)

 Rereading, I'm now confused about this hinging on a fix upsteam. In regard
 to this particular issue, back upstream there doesn't seem to be a problem
 with the application's core functionality– since, at least as currently
 packaged for Ubuntu and Gentoo distributions, it seems to work acceptably
 well.
