 In this particular case, it should not matter if Fink is installed or
 not.[[BR]]
 The basic problem is that MacPorts libiconv 1.12 is different on different
 OS versions, but doxygen[[BR]]
 assumes that libiconv 1.12 uses the Leopard behavior.

 Based on previous comments, it seems unlikely that the patch you used on
 libiconv will be accepted.[[BR]]
 This might cause problems for you later on down the road.
