 The output above is actually what you get if you add this to the Portfile:

 {{{
 platform darwin 7 {
     depends_build-append    port:gmake
     build.cmd               gmake
 }
 }}}

 I forgot I had made those local changes to the Portfile. Without those
 changes, you get the error reported in #15566.
